Had a great chat with amazing Alice Severin about the new album how I write songs, and all the other stuff – Bardi Johannsson

Jenny from Totally Booked on Access All Areas: I thought this book was so beautifully and intelligently written – at times it was like reading a journalism piece from Rolling Stone Magazine and I found prose descriptive but not annoying. This author certainly has a way with words. The first thing I felt was an affinity with the music and how it introduced us to Lily and Tristan. That’s what pulled me in immediately. I loved how the author wove The Clash – (London Calling, White Riot….lord save me!) with Tristan’s band Devised, at the start of the book at the Brit Awards. It made you feel like you were there and was pure genius!
How Lily felt about the music, how she felt watching these bands, it really spoke to me. I could feel her connection to the music and she experienced everything I feel when I watch a live band so it wasn’t hard for me to connect to her and the story straight away.

*moans* Oh, that was wonderful.

Again, sorry Alice for the delay in writing this review. I hope you are writing, writing, writing!!!! I LOVED THIS SERIES!!! In the words of Andrea True or even Billy Idol….I want “MORE, MORE, MORE!” This book definitely put a huge twist to the story & was either going to make or break Tristan & Lily. I don’t want to give any spoilers away but the ending BLEW ME AWAY! I must say it is without a doubt one of the BEST endings I’ve EVER read! I’m pleading Alice, give us MORE of this story!!!

Ooo, the dark imagery in this is SO delicious!! I especially liked:

And maybe he was directing me, I thought. Maybe at that moment the demons were pulling that memory from him, wrenching it from his soul, and it was the echoing scream of it that I was hearing, that made me stop there, to save it.

I love how you connected them across the gap separating them, dark and sad but somehow full of hope that there remains something there at all, even if it is bittersweet. Very well done, I liked it a lot!

Believe me, it was a pleasure ^_^

this was really good. i like the way you described Renn remembering Skil, especially the part about his lips. i don’t know what it is, i just really liked that. good job!

bounces up and down Oh, yes, please do!!!!

That was LOVELY. I even abandoned and muted the Manchester United game just to DROOL over this. GOD. This was . . . . Uakdjflakjsdfk. I LOVE IT.

That was breathtakingly painful in a good way. Well done!

This was absolutely astounding. Your imagery is beyond gorgeous, and you evoke such haunting scenes… R at one brick wall, S at another, unable to remember- darkly beautiful. And the bit about the Cocteau Twins’ warbling and it being a harbinger of death… so true. (at least the first part, lol!) I do love them but never have any idea what they’re singing about.

Really exquisite. Thanks for sharing.

I’m WAY behind on reviewing this book (sorry Alice) but I can’t tell you enough how much I LOVED it! I love the way Alice writes! Even reading the synopsis again made me all tingly, LOL! Tristan on tour, Lily documenting his comeback….hiding their relationship, fighting the past. I got so attached to these characters in book one I was literally wanting to knock people out of the way while reading this book just so they could have their happily ever after. Lily just gets Tristan & Tristan needs Lily. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READ!
